Being that ima crazy Bobby V fan, I had to do my review on it.. The CD is called REBIRTH and Im thinkin this is bc of his departure from DTP onto BlueKollar..
1. The Rebirth (Ft Dotty Peoples)
The beat come in hard.. songs really good.. I wished he wouldda sang an actual song to this and left Dottie off of it.. She was just screamin all over the track for no reason. He must have owed her something, so he put her on the track.. i dont see why else she would be on it..
2. Make You The Only One
This song was on the unreleased verion of SPECIAL OCCASION a while back.. Tim & Bob (Slow Down, Tell Me) produced this one.. it has the similar sound of the other songs they have produced for him.. pretty good song..
3. Hands On Me
This song is my shitttt.. its produced by LOS (produced Shawty is the Shit, Trading Places) and his distinct sound is all through this one.. it sorta sounds like "I Luv your Girl".. its a song i could here the Dream singing.. since LOS works with Dream, im sure thats where the influence comes from.. it got a good rhythm to it.. he is singing about going to the club after him and his chick got into an argument.. and while there.. a chick is tempting him to stay with her.. she got her hands all on him saying "Dont leave"... i love this song..
4. My Girl
This is a nice guitar filled song.. its a slow song speaking on his search for HIS girl.. the one that is the one for him.. classic Bobby.
5. Butterfly Tattoo
Another LOS produced track.. with the Dream influence all through it.. I aint mad bc im waitin on the Dreams Cd anyways.. but this song been my shit for the past month.. I dont know what it is about this song tho.. it doesnt show his vocal skills bc he is singing in a lower tone then usual.. maybe bc its a song about butts.. and we know my love for those.. i be having this on repeat.
6.Just Me & You ft Rapheal Saadiq
Just when im bout to press the repeat button.. this song comes on.. and i cant stop it. its the remake of Saadiq's 95 hit.. The song has newer updated verses but keeps the same flavor, beat and hook.. its a good ass chill track.... when Bobby sings, Rapheal plays the guitar and also has his own solo.. really nice song...
7.Beep ft Yung JOC
I didnt like this when I first heard it this past summer.. bc he almost making sound effects when he sings (ie Wreck) but it grew on me.. i heard it a few times in the club... put it on a mix.. and been a fan since..
8.3 is the New 2
This is a take on Jay Z's 30 is the new 20.. but he flips it to having a threesome that his chick has been talking about.. so he goes thru the scenario from all up the friend to what drinks he is gonna bring.. hot song.. been a fan of this one for a while.. Tim and Bob produced this one too..
9. Make You Say
I slept on this one the 1st time i heard the cd.. but i woke up this morning with this song on repeat in my head... this is produced by Bobby.. this song gonna make u bob your head ((pause)) cuz it got a nice groove to it.. he describes his ideal gurl that will make him say "Wooooo".. my favorite part is the break down close to the end when he repeats hisself in rounds.. this would be hot to dance with someone with in the club bc that would be the part where the gurl would break it down and show off.. prolly my 2nd favorite song...
10. Be MY Love
This song is ok... its almost skip worthy, til you get to the chorus.. the song sounds good on the chorus.. it just need something a lil bit more during the verses..
11. Dance the Night Away (Interlude)
This is a good display of his vocals. For people who were a fan of Special Occasion, you will prolly like this.. sounds like a good song that would sound good live.. he couldda made this a song..
12. On the Edge
I usually skip this.. its not bad.. just not what I wanna hear.. it a Tim & Bob track, but it sounds kinda country, like the video would be him in a desert or somewhere like in Arizona or by the canyons with some birds flying and a lot of shots with him with his arms out.. (Ie. Tracie Spencer) for some reason thats the vision I see... It aint bad.. it just aint good.. IMO
13. You're Not Alone
This has a nice sound to it.. the chorus sounds like a classic Bobby song.. its cool.. nothing to get hype over tho.. its just cool..
14. Stay With Me
Nice beat.. comes in good.. just doesnt have the strong sound us bobby fans are waitin to hear.. its just something not there or not right..
15. Another Life
This is a really good song.. nice slow groove to it.. he takes his time with this one.. got a lil prince feel to it.. with the "dearly beloved", the "oooo ooo oooo"'s and the little high pitched voice talkin in the background, and the guitar solo.. I could hear Andre 3000 doing this.. this is a hot song..
16. Give Me Your Heart
This nigga gets all church sounding on us.. it sounds like a chior of Bobby's harmonizing on the chorus.. its nice.. its him pleading to his gurl for her heart so they can start a family... really nice song..
Overall I like the cd.. ive listened to it like 20 times in the past 3 days... I think a few things couldve been better... but somethings really hit the spot... and i know you didnt think I was gonna go with speakin on his cover.. this cover looks like one of those S-Curl boxes... who does that??? But thats my nigga tho and ima fan.. so he cool.. I suggest everyone at least give it a listen... true bobby fans gotta get it..
